Cady McClain Speaker Bio
Cady McClain is an Emmy® award-winning actress known to millions for film and TV roles, including appearances on popular shows like Cheers and Law & Order SVU and acclaimed films like My Favorite Year. Fans of daytime drama will also remember Cady for her Emmy-winning role of “Dixie” on All My Children.
More recently, Cady has turned her talents to producing and directing, building a career in both TV and short film, including the series Switch and Venice the Series—the latter for which she was nominated for the 2018 Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for an Online Drama Series.
Cady is passionate about women in media and is committed to supporting young women who aspire to a career in media as well as all women looking to enter leadership roles.
Cady’s latest project is called Seeing is Believing: Women Direct, a documentary that Cady describes as “an encouraging and intimate conversation with women who are on the front lines of the film and television directing field.”
The 30 minute short film premiered at the Newport Beach Film Festival in April 2017, winning a Jury Award. The 60 minute short feature premiered at the SOHO Film Festival, winning the Audience Award. The new 84 minute feature is now in post-production. The films feature a conversation with noted directors, “on the street” interviews meant to generate further conversation, and insights from prominent directors in TV and film to inspire and guide women in all leadership professions.
Cady is an accomplished speaker and participant in conferences, leadership development sessions, and other events in support of young women in media and professional life. Past events include Pepperdine University, Webster University, L.A. City College, the WEHO Women and Leadership Conference, the Rochester Institute of Technology, and Johnson County Community College in Kansas City, and the Alliance of Women Directors Panel on Women at the Studios.
Cady is currently scheduling speaking engagements and leadership presentations at film schools, universities, women’s conferences and other venues.
